Colorado Wild Flowers |
|
At Christmas 2003, I received a gift from my wife which I greatly appreciate: a digital camera. This camera has opened a whole new world for one who has always enjoyed taking photos of "things". With the features that are built into this camera, I find that I am free to shoot as many photos as I choose, as often as I choose. A distinct advantage over film type cameras is the ability to instantly view the image taken and to save it or re-shoot for a better image. And I find that I'd just as soon view the images later on my laptop computer as opposed to printing a hard copy, saving that option for one or two special images. My particular camera is the Olympus Camedia, model 740, 3.2 megapixel. It has many features which are advantageous when shooting closeups or distant images: macro and super macro settings; 10X optical + 3X digital providing a total of 30X magnification; through the lens optical viewfinder; fully auto exposure or aperture/speed priority settings. I have found the 3.2 megapixel capacity of the camera to be more than adequate for my needs and ability. I have enjoyed the privilege of hiking and backpacking in beautiful Colorado for many years and now I find that what used to take me maybe 20 minutes to backpack a mile can now take up to an hour! Not just because of my advanced age but because of my devotion to taking photos, particularly if I happen to wander into a meadow or woodland that is filled with wildflowers, rock formations, or wild animals. I have decided to include in my website many photos of wildflowers that I have captured on memory card. Please excuse my amateurish attempt to identify the many beautiful flowers displayed here. It is my desire to get better at identifying as well as photographing these beautiful creations of our Almighty God. If you find that I have mis-identified any of the flowers, I will greatly appreciate your input as to the true and accurate identification. Also, if you would like a full size copy of any of these flowers, email your request . |
